Glock 17 Gen 5 For Sale
The Glock 17 Gen 5 has had significant changes from its 4 generation predecessor. It was first introduced to the US market from a law enforcement perspective. The gun became very popular with competitors and shooting sports.
Features of the Glock 17 Gen 5 pistol
G17 Gen 5 features a 17 round flush fit magazine. Further, it is a double stack with steel line magazine with a polymer overmold. The magazines themselves are relatively inexpensive, cost around $25 apiece.
You can get 33 round magazines from Glocks as well as 24 round extended magazines. These are a nice feature if you want to have a little more ammo in the gun but still maintain the reliability of a factory magazine.
However, looking at the Glock 17 gen 5 mos variant of the Glock 17, the mag well is fantastic. And it is the only polymer frame gun in this size class with such a large mag well. This mag well also extends the Glock 19 series, but that gun is a little bit smaller.
You can give the Glock 17 Gen5 the award for the best-in-class mag well on standard polymer frame pistols. In addition, the mag well probably isn’t as big of an upside for the average person using the gun for self-defense.
General Feel
G17 in Gen 5 is a very ergonomic firearm, and I think a lot of it has to do with not having the finger grooves.
One complaint would still be the Glock knuckle that you can get through gripping the gun, but the Glock knuckle itself isn’t a deal-breaker. That is to say, the Glock 17 Gen 3 through five is pretty good, but the Gen 5 glock 17 is the best variant they’ve offered to date.
Controls
Glock 17 gen 5 magazine controls are pretty standard Glock if you catch my drift. There’s nothing special about them. They work, and they don’t do a whole more than that. Let’s go over them in more detail.

This gun is gorgeous, except for one thing. The engravings for K6s, the Kimber logo and .357 MAGNUM are very cheap looking and appear to be dirty, but aren’t dirty, it’s weird. Compared to the serial number engraving and the engraving of the word KIMBER, the other three look like a different lower quality engraving. I don’t understand this because in the description picture and other pictures I’ve looked up, all the engravings appear to be of the same high quality. I’m not sure what happened with mine but the engravings are clearly different. I love this gun but I hate the quality three engravings I mentioned. I’d rather the gun not have them, then to have them in such poor quality.

My Kimber K6s DASA (2-inch barrel) is an amazing concealable handgun. The fit and finish is top notch. The trigger action is clean and smooth and amazingly light for a stock revolver. I have fired 38 special and 357 magnum rounds with no issues. The weight of the firearm at 23 ounces is perfect for concealing and still provides enough mass to handle the recoil of 357 magnum rounds, although I will say that the recoil of 357 magnum is “stout”. The walnut grip is beautiful but hard on the felt recoil. I fitted a Hogue rubber-like grip on it which helps cushion the felt recoil. The cylinder has flat edges making the profile narrower and allowing for easier concealment. Revolvers are known for their reliability and this one holds 6 rounds, not 5 rounds as similar weight revolvers do. If you want a reliable concealable handgun with loads of 357 magnum stopping power, I can think of no better choice. If 357 magnum recoil is a bit intense for you, 38 special and 38 + P rounds work great as well. It’s nice to have those choices in ammo. I’m extremely happy with this handgun. – Steve B.

First Kimber I’ve owned and first non-S&W revolver. I got the 2 inch. Great carry gun, even when just dropped in a pocket. Manageable recoil and great bootgrip for OEM. I added the Kimber/Metro night sights and installed them with a homemade vice block and Brownells brass sight punch, the small one. The front sight on the set I received was predrilled. The only thing I’ve noticed is that the cylinders are bored a bit wide. I’ve seen some case splitting and over expansion, even on 38 Special. I’ve measured spent cases against ones fired in my S&W and can confirm they are expanding to a greater diameter.

I purchased this revolver back in March of 2021. Fast shipping; everything went smoothly through MidwayUSA. I researched it extensively before buying, and so far the gun has met and surpassed expectations. So far, I have put about 100 rounds of .357 magnum (158 grain) through the gun. It has performed flawlessly, and shoots very smooth for both DA and SA. DA is a nice long pull, but I am able to “stack the trigger” with it. SA is a feather trigger, and makes aiming and placing shots a breeze. With full magnum loads it was still very manageable to shoot, even one handed. I was very accurate with the gun once I had got the feel of how it shoots. I was shooting out to 20 yards (free-hand/no rest) and placing shots that would be fatal. With more practice, I expect I could take it out further. The only thing I wanted different were the grips. On a colder and dry day the wood grips get a little slippery. I replaced them with Houge rubber grips, and now I have a solid grip during all conditions. This is my preferred EDC. It is not too hard to conceal, especially inside the waistband. It’s a great little revolver.
