The tactical bolt knob make the bolt much easier to cycle in my ridgeline ti. I believe they should do away with the smaller bolt knob’s and only run these in all there riffle’s… its that good!

The rifle is fun and great to share 10/22 mags. The rifle was missing the trigger set screw, had to get one from Ruger. The stock also rubs on the barrel and will need to get that fixed.

There’s no question the Ruger American is part of a “value” product line. That said, it’s a heck of a value. As with any Ruger, it takes a little “exercise” to break it in and it will never become a family heirloom over the fireplace because of its beauty.
But it has a decent trigger, the bolt works fine after only a little break-in and it’s more fun to shoot than a barrel of monkeys.

Magazine jammed right out of the box but that is rugers problem. I had other mags so no big deal. Took longer than it said it would. I had to call and find out it had been there for 4 days already. Not a big deal but full disclosure and all that.

This is pretty much the perfect starter rifle for young shooters. Iron sights, bolt action, durable and not so precious that you’re afraid to take it outside. Plus, the compact frame is easier for smaller shooters and somehow fits my 6’2” body comfortably. It’s even pre-drilled for a scope if we eventually want to do that. The safety is large and easy to see, as it’s right behind the bolt and the blade safety within the trigger adds another layer of assurance. On top of all that, it shoots tight groups. Very happy with this gun.

After sighting the rifle in, I was shooting near dime sized groups at 100 yards. This was out of the box. I only changed out the comb and mounted the scope.

Accurate dont let that short barell fool you, put a big vortex scope on it and you can shoot groups the size of a dime from 100 yards.
