Just got this reel in the mail, and am already impressed with how smooth it is out of the box. The packaging was great, as well as the breakdown of all of the components of the reel in a handy graph. I am looking forward to using it and may update the review once I have tested it on the water.

Initially, I had some difficulty with the first reel I was sent. However, the service dept was very responsive and even upgraded me for the mistake.

Out of the box, the spool would not engage after casting. Opened it up, greased and oiled everything and works fine. Very smooth on cast and retrieve. Haven’t caught anything big enough to test the drag but I don’t expect any problems. Definitely worth the price. Update: Used the reel at least 15 times at the beach and caught a number of Stripers up to 17 lbs. The drag is very smooth and had no problem handling the fish or the saltwater. Just a quick rinse at the end of the day and lube every couple of outings. Couldn’t ask for more from a budget reel.
