A Penn reel retrieve is very impressive. You can push the handle with one finger and it will do a smooth loop. When fighting a big fish, there is no slipping. It retrieves like a marble rolling down a sheet of glass. I have not owned another reel like it. Proud to say I own a Penn reel. Quality is worth the cost.

I paired this with a Star Rod for inshore fishing saltwater and this thing is amazing. It’s smooth and seems very well made as most PENN products. One of my favorite reels to date and I love anything and everything receivedGreat reel. Have 3. But this one had one good fight of a 30lb jack and now it’s broke. Will be returning for repair or replacement. Maybe a better reel next time. Great for smaller fish trout etc.
