Out of the box, the spool would not engage after casting. Opened it up, greased and oiled everything and works fine. Very smooth on cast and retrieve. Haven’t caught anything big enough to test the drag but I don’t expect any problems. Definitely worth the price. Update: Used the reel at least 15 times at the beach and caught a number of Stripers up to 17 lbs. The drag is very smooth and had no problem handling the fish or the saltwater. Just a quick rinse at the end of the day and lube every couple of outings. Couldn’t ask for more from a budget reel.

I have had this reel out fishing 3 times. I have not had a back lash yet. I am starting to wonder if this reel is better than my name brand higher priced reels. I would say buy it, you will not be sorry. It is solid, very lightweight and well made.
